Sidney Poitier and Civil Rights Era Film Series

January 12-March 9, 2003:

The Race Film Group and the Center for the Study of Race Politics and Culture presents the Doc Films Series on the work of Sidney Poitier and the Civil Rights Era. The series will run every Sunday at 7pm during the winter quarter. The films will be shown at Max Palevsky Cinema- Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 East 59th Street. Dates and film titles are as follows:

January 19: Intruder in the Dust (1949) and The Quiet One (1948)

January 26: Blackboard Jungle (1955)

February 2: Edge of the City (1957) and the Defiant Ones (1958)

February 9: I Have a Dream (1963) and Lilies of the Field (1963)

February 16: Pig Power (circa 1960) and Nothing but a Man (1963)

February 23: Black Panther aka Off the Pig (1968) and In the Heat of the Night(1967)

March 2: To Sir with Love (1967)

March 9: Black Power: We're Goin Survive America (1968) and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967)
