Undergraduate Programming and Curriculum

Undergraduate Curriculum

Faculty members affiliated with the CSRPC are very committed to initiating some type of curricular component. We believe that an undergraduate curriculum that focuses on the study of race and ethnicity would enable the Center to be directly engaged intellectually with the undergraduate population and to be more involved with the intellectual and cultural life of the College. However, we also believe that such considerations are serious and deserve careful study. Therefore, over the past year the curriculum committee engaged in a yearlong investigation of curricular options, beginning in late fall 2002. Ultimately, the committee decided to focus its energies on the development of a two-quarter civilization course, which undergraduates could use to fulfill the University's civilization core requirement. The course will be integrated into the curriculum starting with the 2004-2005 academic year. We look forward to bringing you further updates on the course in the months ahead.
