Angelica Velazquillo, Dissertation Completion Fellow
Angelica Velazquillo is a doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. Her dissertation research focuses on how undocumented immigrants experience local sanctuary policies. Angelica will be a Dissertation Fellow with the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture for the 2020-2021 academic year. She holds a master’s degree in social work and a certificate in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Chicago. In 2017-2018 Ms. Velazquillo served as a Co-Coordinator for the Migration & Incorporation Workshop and is currently an Urban Doctoral Fellow.
Prior to her academic studies Ms. Velazquillo was involved in immigrant rights advocacy work in North Carolina. In Chicago Ms. Velazquillo has volunteered with the Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants and CommunityHealth, a free community clinic. When time allows she can be found find hiking or catching a movie at Doc films.
