Cosette Bruhns

Cosette Bruhns received her Ph.D. in Italian Studies in 2020 from the University of Chicago. Her research interests include digital scholarship and publication, the representation of art in Medieval and Early Modern literature, critical theory and the representation of race and gender in Medieval and Early Modern visual culture, urban environment and spatial politics, as well as relationships between literature, media, and technology.

Her current projects focus on the visual representation of race and gender in Medieval Italian literature, cultural exchange and appropriation in Medieval and Early Modern literary and visual culture, and a digital publication examining intersecting spaces of political resistance, social justice, and gender in literary and visual representations of public art in Medieval and Early Modern Florence. She has held fellowships at the Newberry Library in Chicago and the château de Fontainebleau (France), and a postdoctoral teaching fellowship at the University of Chicago in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities.
