Marilyn D. Willis
Marilyn D. Willis, Assistant Director
Marilyn D. Willis is an author and an avid believer of self-advocacy for healthcare. Currently enjoying her new hobby of traveling and trying new restaurants, she lives by the quote: "Trust the timing of your life."
Although Marilyn dreamed of being an author one day, she never thought she’d write about anything relating to medical issues/concerns. However, after her own medical scare, Marilyn believed that she could help others who may have had the same or similar issues she faced. In 2016 Marilyn penned her memoir and guide, Winning Through Early Detection and the Beauty Behind It!
Marilyn joined the Office of the Provost in 2017 where she worked with multiple Vice and Associate Provosts. In 2019 she joined the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture as their new Budget Coordinator in conjunction with the Diversity and Inclusion efforts under the Provost’s Office, and is currently the Assistant Director.
Marilyn has three adult children who reside in California, Illinois, and Japan. While Marilyn is excited about joining the Center, her daughter Danielle is just as excited to learn more about the Center and what it has to offer.
Marilyn holds a Master of Science in Management degree from Calumet College of St. Joseph and is an Illinois Licensed Nail Technician.
